Introduction

This guide is intended to assist students in the Center for International Human Rights with conducting in-depth country research on Myanmar (formerly Burma). This guide also provides tips for finding legal materials from Myanmar and for researching Myanmar's obligations under international law.

Although the country's name was changed from Burma to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in 1989 by the military government, it is worth searching for both names when conducting research because many websites, databases, and library catalogs still organize content from this country under its former name.
