Locating Books at Northwestern

NUsearch is Northwestern University's library catalog, which searches holdings across all campus libraries.

Although this guide provides some book recommendations as starting points for your research, if you don't see a resource listed in this guide that meets your need, consider searching in NUsearch, Northwestern Library's discovery search tool for finding books, as well as journals, articles, newspapers and more. NUsearch allows you to discover both print materials in the library's physical collection and electronic resources.

NUsearch allows you to search for materials by Keyword, Title, Author, Call Number, and other methods.

To find the book, see the Get It tab.  Books and other print materials in the Law Library are organized by location codes (MON; F,CAS; REF; etc.) and by call number (KF 4541 .A87 2005). When looking for books at the Law Library in NUsearch, take note of both the location code and the call number where you can find the book on the shelf.

Books at the law library with locations of STO are in storage.  You can request these items using the Request from Storage form.

For books at other NU Libraries such the MAIN Library, sign in with your NetID to request the book. Select Pickup at Law Library. You will get an email when it is available for pickup, usually the next business day.

If the book is "checked out" or "renewed," please place an Interlibrary Loan request to obtain the book from another library.

Requesting Books from Other Libraries

If the book you are looking for is not available through Northwestern's library system, you can place an Interlibrary Loan request to get the book from another library.

To see what materials are available at other libraries, search in http://www.worldcat.org, the catalog for libraries around the world.  It can help you discover books and articles beyond what Northwestern has in its collection.
