Legal encyclopedias are similar to general encyclopedias like Encylopedia Britannica or Wikipedia, but they are limited to legal topics. They cover a wide range of legal topics and provide very basic and easy-to-read explanations of legal concepts. Illinois has two encyclopedias which include citations to Illinois cases and the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) offers practice materials for Illinois attorneys. Their popular handbooks are available electronically via our subscription to IICLE Smartbooks. They are also available via LexisAdvance.
