Accessing Special Collections

The Pritzker Legal Research Center’s special collections are available for research by appointment only. To make an appointment, please use the Booking app.

Researchers may bring their own pencils, paper, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and cameras to view materials. Outerwear, bags, food, drink, and gum are prohibited, but may be stored in one of the library’s lockers. Should a researcher require the use of additional equipment, prior permission must be obtained by contacting law-sc@law.northwestern.edu.

Researchers should handle materials with clean, dry hands. Materials must remain on the tabletop and must not be altered by the researcher in any way. If support is necessary, library staff will set up the materials for the researcher; these materials must stay in their supports, and nothing except for book weights should rest on top of them.

When working with items from the special collections, photography without flash is allowed of non-visual materials for the researcher's educational, research, and personal use only, provided no restrictions are placed on the material.
