Overview and Coverage

Lexis Advance offers extensive coverage of federal dockets.  However, unlike Bloomberg Law, actual documents are only selectively available and only docket abstracts, not the underlying documents, are searchable.

 

Coverage is as follows:

  • U.S. Courts of Appeals

  • U.S. District Courts

  • U.S. Bankruptcy Courts

  • U.S. Tax Court

  • U.S. Court of Federal Claims

  • U.S. Court of International Trade

  • U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation

Accessing Lexis Advance's Dockets

From the Lexis Advance home page, select “Dockets” from the middle column of the "Explore Content" box.

Alternatively, visit https://advance.lexis.com/api/permalink/e606e8cd-fa13-4ec1-b708-cfc01bcc7fec/?context=1000516 and enter your log-in credentials.

Searching Lexis Advance's Dockets

After selecting a court, you will have the opportunity to enter identifying information in a variety of available fields, including:

  • docket number
  • court
  • date
  • judges
  • litigant(s)
  • attorney name
  • counsel or firm name
