Foreign Legal Research Guide

A guide to researching foreign law

Collections of Country-Specific Research Guides

The following research guides are recommended starting points for conducting legal research in a particular country. Use these research guides to help you identify reputable databases and websites where you can find foreign legal materials.

Research Guides from Academic Law Libraries

If you need additional research guides to supplement the guides in the collections above, various academic law libraries have published research guides on foreign legal research for specific countries. To find a research guide, consider using Google Advanced to run a targeted search. Google Advanced allows you to limit your search to a specific domain, such as .edu.

Research Tip: Consider looking a research guide published by a university in the country of interest. The Bodleian Law Library Research Guides are particularly helpful for researching the law of European countries.
