Learning styles are best understood as ways in which students learn best. These include sensory preferences (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). These also include some opposing styles like active v. reflective, abstract v. concrete, and global v. sequential. Because these styles seem mutually exclusive, the best practice is to try to design learning activities that reach all different learning styles.
