Beginning June 19 Northwestern Law faculty, staff, and students will be able to request books from our circulating collections via NUsearch and pick them up at a designated time on Tuesdays at the law school entrance at 375 E. Chicago Ave. To request a book in NUsearch, click on the title. After logging in with your NetID, select Request and select "Law Library" as your pickup location.
Requests for titles from the law library collection that are received before 12:00 pm on Mondays will be available for pickup on Tuesday. Requests for titles from other Northwestern libraries may be delayed up to a week because of limited intercampus deliveries.
After requesting an item via NUsearch, you will receive an email from our circulation desk to arrange for a pickup time on Tuesday. If faculty have made other arrangements to access the law school, we will deliver books to faculty mailboxes.
Faculty, staff, and students arriving at the law school to pick up requested materials are expected to follow University health and safety guidelines by maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks and monitoring personal health. Upon arrival at the entrance, patrons should call the library circulation desk at 312-503-8451 and a staff member will meet them at the building entrance with their requested items.
As a reminder, all current library loans have been automatically renewed through September and no late fees or lost fines will accrue. We ask that you keep your library loans until we are able to return to campus in the fall. If you will not be in Chicago in the fall, we have set up a temporary book return location on the Chicago campus. You may return library books to the loading dock in the Simpson-Querrey building located at 302 E. Huron. Books will be accepted Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Ring the bell at the dock entrance and someone will accept your library returns.
If students need books that are in a library locker, please contact the circulation desk directly to make arrangements.
Faculty, staff, and students will be able to request scans of articles, book chapters and pages from the library’s print collections using the Scan & Deliver Request Form.
